I consider myself half an “islander” and also “Schwabe” which is my province in Germany I come from.
I try my best to combine the cultures as good as possible, and this is one of the outcomes.
Usually you have to sit on the the scraper and scrape the coconut into the bowl.
Then with your hands you squeeze out the coconut cream.
This is more the 21st century bush style…
I blend the coconut and with the red noodle press which is invented and used in the “Schwabenland” (my province).
This press is at least 25 years old and got it from my parents and still does a really good job squeezing out the coconut or making noodles.
